KaravanDost involves volunteers of all backgrounds, ages and abilities in the work and activities of KaravanPakistan and its parent body, the Heritage Foundation Pakistan (HFP). Participation has come from both Pakistan and abroad.
The most active volunteer participation recently has been in the KAPIT earthquake-reconstruction effort. Here building trade professionals (architects, engineers, and advanced students in these fields) continue to contribute (since the earthquake struck in October ’05 up until now) with their technical know-how in grass-roots reconstruction efforts.
KaravanDost ‘Heritage Hands’ volunteers work on cultural and architectural heritage-related activities and projects with the HFP. ‘Heritage Hands’ can gain valuable experience with professionals in the Foundation in ongoing research, publishing, curriculum development, and social outreach. There is also room for short-term involvement, and for special projects designed by volunteers themselves and guided by the Foundation. (January 2006)
